Our Story
A more human way to do estate agency
There’s more to life than EPC certificates, damp reports, and surveyor valuations.
Every house we rent is a home — a home to real people, with real feelings. And it takes a special kind of agent to manage not just the process, but the emotions that come with it.
That’s why we believe in experience, empathy, and a human approach that always sits outside the balance sheet.
- We don’t overcomplicate things.
- We don’t hide behind jargon or clichés.
- We keep it simple. We keep it human.
Built on experience. Driven by people.
After decades in corporate agencies, we thought it was time for something better.
We’ve worked under the big brands. We’ve lived the targets, the commissions, and the pressure.
Now, we choose something different.
We’re fiercely independent, and we’ve built Spotlight around one simple idea:
Focus on people, not processes.
We build trusting relationships that last far beyond the sale.
Our vision
Our vision is simple:
To make the agency experience friendly again.
To remove the slick, suit-wearing corporate approach that dominates the industry.
And to bring back something that’s been lost along the way — the human element.
After all, we’re all people. And we’re in it with you, every step of the way.
Real people, real conversations
We are approachable, friendly, and personable.
We speak like people — not like brochures.
We avoid jargon wherever possible.
And we try, every day, not to sound like “typical agents”.
We’re a tight-knit team of genuine locals who enjoy a pint in the village pub or a walk through the forest just as much as we enjoy helping people move home.
It’s not just what we do — it’s who we are.
How it all started
Our independant journey began in 2017.
While trying to decide what to call the business, our founder Allan took a break at the Minstead Shop for a coffee. Sitting there, he looked up, took a moment… and had a lightbulb moment — quite literally.
The ceiling was full of spotlights.
And just like that, Spotlight Homes was born.
Growth, change, and purpose
Since then, the business has grown steadily.
Michelle — now Allan’s wife — joined to lead the lettings side of the business, which has gone from strength to strength.
During 2020, we created a dedicated lettings structure to give landlords and tenants greater protection during a time when it mattered most. This became Spotlight - Lettings Management Ltd, which handles residential lettings and client money protection.
Where we are today
In 2022, we moved onto Lyndhurst High Street from our Romsey Road office, putting us right in the heart of the community we serve.
We’re supported by our local consultant Kevin, bringing a wealth of experience to the team.
Kevin, who assists on an ad hoc basis, brings over 30 years of industry knowledge. His experience is invaluable — and means that no matter what stage you’re at, there is always someone on hand who truly knows what they’re doing.
Why we do this
Because agency doesn’t have to feel complicated.
Because people deserve better than scripts and targets.
Because homes deserve more than being treated like transactions.
And because, at the end of the day, we believe in doing things properly.
Let’s talk
Whether you’re buying, selling, letting, or just exploring your options — we’re here for a conversation, not a sales pitch.
